10/02/2006 “Recognition of excellence in the promotion of regional enterprise”
Relevant Date: 7/2/2006

Contribute to the promotion of entrepreneurship in your town or region.

The role of practices that promote enterprise and create a favourable climate for enterprises, particularly small to medium sized enterprises, is crucial if the European Union wishes to respond to the number one challenge of boosting economic development and creating new jobs..
The vice-president of the European Commission, Günter Verheugen, proudly presents the European Enterprise Awards, which recognize and reward the significant initiatives that boost entrepreneurship at a regional level.

The goal of the awards is fourfold:

  • To locate and identify successful activities and initiatives implemented to promote enterprises and entrepreneurship
  • To promote and publicise examples of effective policies and practises for entrepreneurship
  • To inform the public on the role of entrepreneurs in society
  • To encourage and provide incentives to potential entrepreneurs
