On Monday 20 September 2004 at 11am, the Minister of Development, Dimitris Sioufas, accompanied by deputy ministers and general and special secretaries, will open the third meeting of the National Competitiveness and Development Council (ESAA) on “Coordination between the ESAA and the Competitiveness Council of the European Union”.

At 11am on Monday 2 February 2005) development minister Dimitris Sioufas will open the third meeting of the National Competitiveness and Development Council (ESAA) on “Coordination between the ESAA and the Competitiveness Council of the European Union”, which is to be held at the Ministry of Development (Conference Room).

He will be joined by deputy finance minister Christos Folias, deputy development minister Giorgos Salagoudis, general secretary for development Nikos Stefanou, general secretary for industry Spiros Papadopoulos, general secretary for trade Dimitris Vrettakos, general secretary for research and technology Giannis Tsoukalas, general secretary for consumer affairs Athanasios Skordas, and special secretary for competitiveness Spiros Efstathopoulos.The meeting will open with speeches by Mr Sioufas and Mr Folias, and will continue with the presentation and analysis of the issues to be discussed at the Competitiveness Council of the European Union in Brussels on 24 September 2004. The speakers and the subjects they will cover are as follows:

    • Economic situation and competitiveness
    • Improving the regulatory environment
    • Legislation concerning the internal market
    • Dangerous substances (phthaltes) and toy safety
  • A. Akritopoulos, Permanent Representation of Greece in Brussels:
    • Industrial policy and structural changes
    • Euro-Mediterranean Ministerial Conference in Caserta, Italy
  • G. Asonitis, Permanent Representation of Greece in Brussels::
    • Sales promotion in the internal market
  • C. Vasilakos, Permanent Representation of Greece in Brussels:
    • ΤΕΡ,
    • European policy on Research and Technological Development
    • Nanotechnology
  • G. Frisalakis, Permanent Representation of Greece in Brussels:
