SMEs and the Industrial Policy
“Business plans from existing medium-sized manufacturing enterprises and laboratories for the provision of quality services” - 18/05/2006
Approval has been granted for the inclusion of 145 business plans in the programme “Business plans from existing medium-sized manufacturing enterprises and laboratories for the provision of quality services”, which belongs to Action 2.5.3 (first cycle), of the General Secretariat for Industry’s Operational Programme for Competitiveness.
Development of Industrial Research and Technology - 13/05/2005
After a speech by research and technology general secretary Professor Ioannis Tsoukalas, development minister Dimitris Sioufas, signed decisions to encourage and develop industrial research and to promote innovation with grants for projects to be executed in Greece by new businesses. Specifically, he approved inclusion and financing of 9 proposals in the second cycle of Action 4.3.2 (Programme to Develop Industrial Research and Technology in New Enterprises) with a total budget of 2,444,044 euros.
Prepublication of Action 2.12.6 - 12/05/2005
The Ministry of Development is to announce Action 2.12.6 in the framework of the Operational Programme for Competitiveness, which provides grants for enterprises to relocate to Industrial Zones, Industrial Parks, Small Industry Parks and Technology Parks organised under Law 4458/65 or Law 2545/97.
Competitiveness Council of Ministers - 11/05/2005
The Competitiveness Council of Ministers of the European Union met yesterday in Brussels. Greece was represented by Minister for Development Dimitris Sioufas, accompanied by the general secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Georgios Mergos and the special secretary for competitiveness, Spiros Efstathopoulos.
Improving the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises - 25/04/2005
At an Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry event to provide information on increasing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, general secretary for industry Spiros Papadopoulos, special secretary for competitive Spiros Efstathopoulos, and EOMMEX managing director Ε. Skandalis, together with Ministry of Development and EOMMEX officials, presented the policies, programmes and individual actions of the Ministry of Development to support SMEs.
Exhibition of innovative products at the Zappion Hal - 18/04/2005

Indexes of international competitiveness and Greece’s ranking - 04/04/2005
Development minister Dimitris Sioufas spoke at a meeting organised today by the Ministry of Development on indexes of international competitiveness and Greece’s ranking, at which the country’s competitiveness was for the first time presented on the basis of 17 international indexes.

The Ministry of Development’s General Secretariat for Industry has announced its intention to publish a call for proposals for Action 2.12.3 of the Operational Programme for Competitiveness, concerning projects to renovate and return abandoned industrial buildings to industrial use.
Financing for Industrial Zones - 22/02/2005
Development minister Dimitris Sioufas has signed decisions so that projects to improve and protect the environment at selected existing Hellenic Industrial Development Bank industrial zones throughout Greece can receive financing under Action 1.1.1, Measure 1.1. (“Industrial, technological & business infrastructure” of the Operational Programme for Competitiveness”).
