The European Social Fund is one of the Structural Funds of the European Union; it constitutes the main source of financing for OP Competitiveness human resources development actions. Its mission is to contribute to employment growth through the enhancement of employability, entrepreneurship, adaptability and equal opportunities as well as investment in human resources.

Upgrading the knowledge and skills of the labour force is the best response to the uncertainty prevailing in the labour market, while it also is a basic prerequisite for improving the competitiveness of Greek businesses.
