The part of the O.P. dedicated to tourism seeks to secure the position of Greece as one of the world’s top tourist destinations, and also enhance the Greek tourist product with quality features that differentiate it from other destinations and allow it to meet the needs of new vigorous tourist markets.

The basic axes along which the above policy is structured in more specific terms are as follows:

  • Strengthening entrepreneurship in the tourism sector by actions to modernize tourist accommodation, as well as support for business plans drawn up by tourism SMEs in all sectors. (Axis 2, Measure 2.2, Actions 2.2.1, 2.2.2, 2.2.3).
  • Differentiation of tourism product and exploitation of alternative forms of tourism (Axis 5, Measures 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, Actions 5.1.1, 5.2.1, 5.2.2, 5.2.3, 5.2.4, 5.3.1, 5.3.2).
  • Improving human resources in tourism sector and upgrading of education and training to meet the needs of the labour market (Axis 8, Measure 8.1, Actions 8.1.1, 8.1.2, 8.1.3, 8.1.4, 8.1.5, 8.1.6, 8.1.7).
